👒Crochet Baby Bucket Hat 🌼Fluffy Daisies🌼 4 sizes of Newborn to 18 months Baby Girl

Hello everyone, this is Susanna.

Thank you for stopping by.

This time, I would like to introduce a baby dress and a baby hat that I knitted for one of our former part-timers who gave birth to a very cute baby girl.

Since this was the first time for me to knit a baby dress, I used an overseas pattern as a reference, so I will not make a video of the dress, but for the baby hat, I rearranged an existing pattern and changed the design and size. If you are interested, please read to the end.

I started knitting several years ago, so I really wish I had learned to knit a long time ago so I could have knitted baby dresses and other items for my daughters. So, I have high hopes for my grandchildren!

Baby items use less yarn and take less time to make, so it is possible to enjoy elaborate knitting and designs.

Also, now that I know the basics of knitting a baby dress, I think it would be nice to rearrange this hat and knit a matching baby dress. If I have a chance, I would like to knit and make a video of it.

So, without further ado, let's get started!

My first baby dress

This will be the first baby dress I knit.

It is knitted with the top down. It is a cute technique to change the knit stitch between the top part and the bottom skirt part. I have thought of an easy way to increase the stitching on the lower skirt part even for those who are not good at increasing the stitching. Also, since the top part was knitted softly with a lot of lace, the center of gravity would inevitably move downward when the lower skirt part becomes longer and more voluminous, so we made the lower part of the skirt lighter with more lace.

We have also made a video showing some ideas that can be used as a little care when presenting it, so if you are interested, please refer to it as well. The video is available with auto-translated English subtitles.

The baby dress is designed to be worn with the buttons on the back. Since the buttons come on the back side, you may want to be a little picky about the button selection. We have made a video to talk about this point, so please watch it if you are interested. The video is available with auto-translated English subtitles.

🦋Butterflies🦋

By the way, this very beautiful pattern I knitted for the top part is called 🦋Butterflies🦋. It was so beautiful that I made a video to show you how to knit just the pattern, so please try it in your own work.

This time, I changed the theme and knitted it in a way that you can mix it with double crochets. The only drawback is that the butterflies at the beginning and end of each section are slightly misshapen. The problem can be solved by watching the next video, so please watch it as well.

🦋Butterflies2🦋

Now, as I indicated earlier, the aforementioned knitting method causes the butterfly at the end to lose its shape, so I made a video to show how to cover that drawback and for those who want to place butterflies in places in a simple knitting pattern using double crochets. In this case, we have placed them regularly, but you may place them randomly. Also, the video shows how to knit with double crochets and lace crochet, so you can add butterflies while knitting with double crochets, or you can add butterflies inside of lace crochet.

Baby Bucket Hat

A new mother requested a bucket hat, so I softened the bucket hat with a slightly droopy look.

The hat I referred to is a children's hat by Legendasun, a Ukrainian knitwear designer. In Eastern Europe and Russia, it seems to be the mainstream to wear such brightly colored wide-brimmed lace hats. Another mainstream item is decorated with colorfully woven floral motifs. It shows the dexterity of their hands, doesn't it?

I designed 4 sizes of the bucket hat

We designed four types of bucket hats in different sizes based on the hats above.

Newborn to 3 months (for children born in summer)

3 months to 6 months (for children born in spring)

6-12 months (for children born in autumn/winter)

12-18 months (for 1 year olds)

I also recall that babies grow so fast at this time that they quickly outgrow their sizes. I also recall ordering a lace hat from the US for my daughter. It soon became too small. I wish I could have knitted it for her now. But, after all, there are various summer and memorial events such as the first visit to the shrine, the first meal of the new year, Golden Week, the first time at the beach, and so on, so we want to prepare the best for them. Especially hats for babies can be knitted in such a short time that they can be done in a day, even if knitted with lace like this, so we recommend them for unpretentious celebrations.

So here is a video of how to crochet for each size. I will also post the pattern below the video for your reference.

How to crochet a bucket hat for babies and essentials

Image (1) shows the number of scallops, head circumference, and finished length at the beginning of crochet.
Image (2) shows the number of scallops per check point circumference, number of stitches, and total length.

This is shown in infant size, but if you wish to arrange for infants, kids, juniors, or adults, please size up the crochet hook size using the 12-18 month size crochet method. Please adjust the yarn size to match the crochet hook size increase.
When doing so, please be sure to adjust the depth of the crown and the length of the visor to fit the head circumference at the 14th round.
If the brim hangs down and makes it difficult to wear, use a shape memory resin or similar material in the final stage to ensure strength.
To join the shape memory resin, it is convenient to use a heat-shrinkable tube (transparent type) that shrinks with heat from a lighter or the like to hold it firmly in place.

No, no, I don't have a baby, but isn't this pattern cute? If you think so, please take a look at the reciprocal crochet method as well.

🔧About my hook

The crochet hooks used in this series are Addi's Colors series.

The shaft part of the thinner size hooks we used this time is longer than those of other manufacturers, and the same thickness is continued to the grip.

Some may feel that the long shaft is difficult to control, but because of the long shaft, there is no need to worry about the yarn coming off when knitting with multiple hooks, such as Lif crochet or Puff stitches, and because the thickness of the shaft is constant, there is no need to worry about the top loop coming loose when knitting balls. The constant thickness of the shaft also reduces the problem of the top loop being too loose. Of course, it depends on how you use it. If you are interested in this product, please stop by our store.
