Before starting to crochet
1. To get a gauge and for practice, let's crochet pine cones pattern referring to the video or the written instructions. I practiced with 61 stitches and confirmed that I could crochet 28 rows with one ball. The size was just about a cushion size square of 38cm x 35cm.
2. Measure the size of the swatch you crochet and check your gauge. Adjust your crochet hook size until the gauge fits. The gauge is 16 stitches x 8 rows. Focus on the number of stitches rather than the number of rows.
3. Read through the pattern to the end before crocheting to get a grasp of the pattern. It is very important to check the finished size to make sure it fits your body.
4. Check the size of the armholes and determine the rows you need. Check the total length, determine the preferable length, and adjust the number of rows so that the length minus the fringe is multiples of 3 rows.
5. Check the width, determine the width you need, and then calculate the number of stitches you need. If the neck width opening is too narrow, you may increase the number of patterns which means adding 10 stitches each. Be sure to use the same number of patterns on both sides from the center back.
6. Based on the size you confirmed in step 2, calculate how many balls of yarn you will need in total, and prepare the yarn. Remember that in addition to the main body, you will need one ball for the edging and one ball for the fringe.

Front body (left and right) ending
Ch 45 :
Crochet from the edge to the stitch marker in the same way as in Ch 5 of the pattern. Continue the pattern for 16 rows to reach 60 rows. Total length is 75cm.
Reinforcement :
Starting additional chain 1, reinforce with single crochet each stitch and cut off the yarn at the end.
Back body and shoulder seam (Join as you go)
45th st :
Crochet the stitches marked with the stitch markers where started at the center of the 5dc and ended at the center of the 5dc. Continue the pattern for 16 rows to reach 60. Total length is 75cm.
Reinforcing and joining as you go (overlap with the front body) :
Chain 1 (doesn’t count as a stitch), sc inserting the hook from the front sc stitch (*refer the instruction video for more detailed explanation).
Reinforcement (the back panel stitches without overlapped) :
Sc each in the same manner with the front panel. After reaching the last stitch, fasten off.
Decorating the edge of the main body
Turn the garment over so that the right side is facing up. Attach the yarn to the lower edge of the right front.
In principle :
1 edging pattern uses 3 rows vertically, and 6 stitches in horizontally. Starting with sc, skip 1st row or 2 sts, 1dc, ch 3 picot, repeat 3 more times, and 1dc in the 2nd row or the next stitch, skip the 3rd row or 2 sts, sc into the next stich.
Right front:
Crochet from bottom to top with rows.
Chain 1 ( doesn’t count as a stitch), 1sc in the corner stitch, skip the 1st row, (1dc & chain 3 picot) 4times and 1dc into the 2nd row, skip the 3rd row.
Repeat [1 sc in the stitch between the 3rd row of current 3 rows group and the 1st row of next 3 rows group, skip the 1st row of next group, (1dc & ch3 picot) 4 times and 1dc into the 2nd row of next group, skip the 3rd row of next 3 rows group].
Finish with sc at the corner of the neck opening.
Neck opening area :
Crochet from side to side with stitches. Divide into 3 sections, and figure out how many stitches per 1 edging pattern.
Repeat [skip 2 or 3 stitches, (1dc & ch3 picot) 4 times and 1dc into the next stitch, skip appropriate stitches, sc into the next stitch] to the end.
Left front :
Crochet from top to bottom with rows.
Repeat as the right front and end with sc at the bottom of the panel. Fasten off.
Sleeve edging
Attach yarn to center line of underarm.
Underarm edging :
Chain 3 picots, then 4sc of following stitches, then chain 3 picot at the corner of armhole.
Body edging :
2sc per 1 row of the body, after 4sc, ch3 picot, and repeat to the end of the body, always finish with ch3 picot at the bottom corner between body & armhole.
Underarm borders:
After the corner picot, 4sc, and join into the first picot with slip stitch. Fasten off.
Do the same for the other side.
Finally, cover the thread ends with stitches and shape by blocking with steam or misting.
Fringe
Preparation :
Using a measuring tape, cut a 30cm length of yarn, and prepare a total of 146 strings of yarn of the same length based on the 1st string. Alternatively, prepare the yarn by using a piece of cardboard or book about 30 cm in length, wrapping the yarn around it and cutting the top and bottom. Use two fringes each.
Attachment :
Using the 1dc of the pattern border as a guide, attach the fringes by crocheting from the back side every 5th stitch. After attaching the fringe all around, continue attaching fringe between the second and third of the four stitches. In total, 73 fringes will be attached.
Trimming :
Lightly rinse with water or apply steam to bring back the fringes and trim them so that they are straight. The length of the fringe should be about 12 cm, but it can be longer or shorter as desired. If you want to make it longer, you can cut it in 40 or 50 cm lengths.

Cautions for washing
When washing, please follow the instructions on the thread label.
If you lose it, put it in a laundry net and wash by hand or in the hand wash mode of your washing machine, and dehydrate very briefly. If you block the cardigan while it is half-dried, you can always enjoy a beautifully shaped cardigan.
When you want to make the fringe fluffy
If you want to make the fringe fluffy, untangle it with a comb to make it fluffy.
